Because Hollywood is losing its imagination. Also to ensure certain amount of audience. If a show or movie is successful, those who remember it would want to rekindle those memories and go watch the new version. Plus like earlier suggested, it helps sell the older versions.

1: to make better effects,now with the technology now, older movies will come back with style and new meaning with better effects. 2: also they make more money bringing out a old movie again, people will always want to see a old classic be like new again. it's interesting, and because it is alot of people go see it.
