Is there a racial side to this? Aren't black guys under more pressure to be 'strong'? Isn't the stigma on black sissies, within black culture, greater than the corresponding stigma in white culture? Of course gay men are not necessarily, at all times, sissies, but certainly gay male identity offends male machismo, and is often effeminate or sissy, or so judged. And I do mean judged, as in 'ASSessed' ! (ha!)

And really why the fuss? We allow the military to discriminate against gays and lesbians. In many circles homosexuality is still judged as bad, wicked, sinful, etc. The Bible condemns it - do we ban the bible?

I am gay, but I don't think Washington should get fired. Gays live in a world of stigma, now as before. What group, or subgroup, is without stigma of some sort? People in show business accept the risks of publicity. And Washington has apologized.

He "apologized" and as soon as he could use the word again, did. They lost a viewer in me, not just because of Washington, although HE was bad enough, but because the Producer got on and denied the 1st time ever happened, something they had already apologized for, so this showed me the problem was "systemic" running throughout the show from the actors to the producers. Sorry, they can find new viewers somewhere else, perhaps from white-sheeted people from the South.

He is not being fired for being gay or what he said, but for his insubordinate ways. I've known Isaiah Washington since he was a punk growing up in Hartford, CT at the Boys' Clubs of America summer camp. He was from a rough project named Stowe Village and ran around with good for nothings until he got shot and got sense.

Isaiah was always a demanding person and thought the world revolved around him and him only. He demonstrated his talents early but also the selfishness attitude that goes with being overly proud of oneself, at times forgetting where u come from.

Hollywood has had many more flamboyant movie stars that were and r gay and they r not stereotyped in anyway for their acting abilities, but r refused or denied work because of their high horse attitudes.

Pls get ur story straight and read between the lines before judging the straight world, I too am gay.

He apologized once after the fight on the set, but yet denied the whole incident at the Golden Globes. It's clear from this that he has clearly not learned his lesson, so I would respectfully disagree with you and say that he should definitely be fired.

And just because something is sanctioned by the government or a religious institution doesn't make it right. Just look at slavery.
