They are a good early warning of disease in the female reproductive system. If I heard a doctor call a woman a baby for not having it done, Id sue his backside off!;

I am only guessing at an answer because your question is worded very confusingly. We need a pap smear and pelvic exam annually once we reach reproductive age because that ensures good health. A pelvic exam makes sure that the uterus is healthy, in the proper positiion and the ovaries do not have any cysts or other abnormalities. The pap smear is done by scraping a few cells from the cervix with a swab and/or a spatula. The cells are looked at on a slide to see if there are any abnormal ones that could indicate cancers or other problems.
All of this is preventative medicine. You need to have it done.
If your doctor is insensitive enough to call you a baby because you are nervous about the procedure, you need another doctor. Find one that will talk to you about the exam and explain step by step what is happening during it. Don't skip the annual exam, especially if you are sexually active.

The doctors are just making sure you don't have abnormalities... The pelvic exam specifically makes sure there aren't abnormalities on the organs... such as a tumor or large cyst on one of the ovaries or uterus. The Pap smear is done to make sure you don't have hidden genital warts. These can be located on the cervix and actually CAUSE cervical cancer.

As for the history... Dr. George Papanicolaou (1883-1962) first started the Pap smear (which is named after him) to reduce the cases of uterine cancer and other such things.

In order to feel tumors or cysts pelvic exams are necessary. Pap smears are to ensure that cervical cancer or pre-cancerous conditions are not present. This is often caused by the HPV or the human papilloma virus which you can be tested for. When I used to ask for the test 10 years ago, I was looked at as if I had asked for the impossibl. I knew more than the doctors. I demanded the test and lo and behold they found it to exist and I got my test. Thankfully it was negative.

What are you talking about? Someone gave you some BAD information. Doctor's do not say that. I don't know where you heard such rubbish and that you actually believe it. All women start having pelvic exams and pap smears when they become sexually active. It's to make sure that you don't have any problems and that you are able to bear children. Since that is what sex is SUPPOSED to be for.
