it's a 300GB 10,000 RPM, so I imagine it should run a bit hot...
It's also sitting next to another HD, should I maybe install a fan?

It is a normal temperature for a HDD.
For example, my WD Caviar SE 300 has an operating temperature between 5° C and 55° C (right now is 48° C).

That is tending towards the warm side.

Make sure all your vents in your case are clean & clear of wires etc.

I have three drives stacked. The middle one is a 160 gig 7200 RPM and it's running 40 C. I don't have a 10,000 RPM but I suspect they would run warmer.

The manual for the drives should have a temperature range for safe operation. Just keep the drives within those tolerances and you should be fine.
