Do you have a fish tank with a filter, heater and light? Or do you want something that can live in a bowl? Betta's are very easy to care for and come in a variety of colors. You can only have one in a bowl.

This is what you would need for a Betta:
1. A bowl that is about a gallon of water
2. Rocks for the bottom (a 2lb bag is fine)
3. A Plant that the Betta can rub on and hide in
4. Water conditioner for Betta's
5. Betta food (flakes or pellets)
6. A small net
7. The Betta of your choice

Now the Steps to setting up the Betta Bowl:

1. You want to wash the rocks with hot water to get any loose coloring off of the rocks.
2. Put the rocks in the bottom of the bowl
3. Place the plant in the rocks
4. Fill the bowl with room temp water
5. Add Water conditioner and Let sit for 15 Min's
6. Add your Betta

Care for the Betta:
1. Feed your Betta once a day just a few flakes or 2 to 3 Pellets
2. Change the water once a week. Take some of the water from his bowl and put it in the container he came in. Take the fish net and catch your Betta and place him in the cup. Then just follow the directions on setting up the bowl for the Betta.

With the proper care Betta's can live for several years!

You can get all of this at your local Pet Smart. Pet Smart comes with a 14 Day guarantee on all live pets. Just make sure you keep the fish and receipt.

You don't buy fish to match your room. You buy fish according to their compatibility with one another, their level of difficulty of care relating to your experience and the type and size of tank you want to have. You can decorate the tank to match your room, however. Get purple, green and/or blue gravel. Get little castles or other decorations that have those colors in them. Get a backdrop that has those colors in them. This will be a better way to match to your room decor, anyway, rather than trying to match the fish.

Fish aren't decor, but if you are going to try to do this anyway, I'd get a betta with the colors you like, I've seen some with all those colors in it. Keep it simple, for the fishes sake.

I agree. A beta has the colors you are asking about, and it requires less maintenance than other fish. It is probably your best bet.

mollie (mah-lee)
you can get them at walmart, but they might not have the color you want so a second choice is to go to an actual pet store.
