what is a good instrument company to buy the bassoon from?

Where do you live? In the UK, I'd recommend Howarth in London, John Myatt in Hertfordshire or John Packer in Taunton. The most important thing is to make sure you try the instrument out and preferably go somewhere where they have a few you can try, so you can compare them and make an informed choice.

no idea but keep on playing bassoon. Its awesome!
