I was reading an old book my father once gave me, it's an 1918 book, about opportunity. In it, the author said that opportunity would look like someone with a ponytail at the top of the forehead, but bald at the back of the head. In other words, if opportunity comes along, towards you, it could be easily grabbed, but if it goes by, there will be nothing to grab hold of. This image stuck in my head! Any other descriptions?

It would look like an everyday guy. Nothing special, nothing that stands out. And it would be up to me to notice it/him because if I am not paying attention, he could easily just pass by.

By the way, I love the description from the book you read. It is a wonderful metaphor.

Opportunity would look like someone I trusted completely, then it would never pass me by without me taking a chance on it.
