...what is a rising sign.?

the rising sign of a natal chart is the place/point on the zodiac wheel which depicts the eastern horizon.
though it is on the far left of the wheel where west is normally perceived. but because of the juxtaposition of the personal vision to the world. the eastern horizon represents 'personality' of an individual which includes will of mind/personality and body.
the personal vision.....ego. the house of the rising sun.

this is the place in your chart and make-up which remarks of your personality style and how others receive you.
but which you may not be aware. depending on how well self-informed you are.

for...there is roughly eleven of twelve possibilities that your rising sun-sign is different from your sun-sign. and sun-sign (not rising sign) is how a person perceives their self because of the very personal (interior feeling) awareness which be natural for you.
