I want to learn violin on my own. Can anyone please guide me on how to start. I am very new to this field and I don't even know how to read music notes.
Providing any links which would help me to start from the basics and basically teach me how to read music would be appreciated.

Sorry, it's not something you can teach that easily. If you're just getting started, here's the best thing to do.

Go to a local music store and rent a violin. They'll probably have some for about $25 a month. You want to rent, at least the first few months, instead of buying - make sure you really want to commit to the instrument, and get a feel for it so you can make a more informed descision when you DO go to buy one.

Ask them for recommendations for a teacher. Even if you don't want / can't afford regular lessons, at least START with a teacher - a few lessons at least. You'll want to know the proper way to hold the bow, have them tape up the fingerboard so you learn good intonation (that's one of the hardest parts), and try not to pick up any bad habits. If you get good at it and want to audition for a local symphony, you don't want to look like you don't know what you're doing!

And learn how to read music pronto. There are other methods to learning the violin (tabs, for instance) but they will only take you so far before you need to switch anyway, and it will only confuse you.

Good luck!

Trying to teach yourself online is the most inefficient way to learn. It's slow and the average person who does it gets maybe half the technique right. If you have no prior music experience it's vitally important to get a teacher. Violin has no frets or keys so you really need to understand how the notes are related and how they fit together in order to play. The questions we get here from people with no music experience who try to teach themselves indicate that they get completely lost and confused within a few days. You might want to rent a violin at first to see if it's something you're going to stick with. The school orchestra teacher will know which stores are reliable for rentals and which ones have good beginner outfits for sale.

It's easy, onnce you get it. allways just move the bow slow or fast in the violane. Another thing, learing how to play is not something you could email or right.
