In my backyard there's a canal that runs behind all the houses on my block. There are a lot of different fish in there. Some I'm pretty sure I know the species of, and some I don't. I could use some help identifying the following two fish:

I think the smaller ones are still quite young, but if you can give me some good guesses, please do. Even better if you know exactly what they are.

I live in Central Florida. So I don't think that the water connects with a body of salt water.

1.) sunfish
2.) either guppies or minnows

The first one is a sunfish. Looks like a blue gill or possibly a red ear. They are from the same family. The others look like minnows of some sort. #2 may be shiners. I can't really tell on the third one though.

You don't say where you are from (general area) that could go a long way in helping to identify these fish. Is the canal fresh water, brackish or salt water fed?

1. Sunfish most definetly
2. minnows
3. that is a guppy, but you didnt find that ouside in a canal, less you live in the tropics. Or its a minnow i've never seen before

I think the first one is a Blue gill

the big one is a bluegill the smaller one are mosquito fish

well the second and 3rd look like guppys
