Well some of u r telling me that he puts people down..Well Yeah! If he wasnt rude, then we would have American Morons! And some of the people that go on to sing, cant sing a note! Dont you think their family would warn them?!

Some people just need to hear what Simon says. In some cases, if you are a really bad singer, you won't believe it until someone tells you like Simon does. Simon totally makes the show great. I love Simon! I don't think he goes over the top unless he makes fun of someone's appearance, that's just irrelevent.

He can be quite rude at times but the people who go in there do know what theyre up against (IF theyre not part of an act) ... that would be hard to deal with though if you REALLY think you can sing and pursuing a career in singing is your dream and then someone tells you that you suck...or that you suck AND look like ''one of them hairy things in the jungle'' lol We do need a judge who tells the truth though but talking about people's looks is over doing it because their physical appearence has nothing to do with whether or not they can sing!

I think that without Simon Cowell's harsh comments American Idol wouldn't be that great. He makes the show.

I beg to differ. Simon is constantly putting people down. I have seen it on all the past seasons. Why does he have to do that? Not everybody is blessed with the same talents, so they can't all be good. There is such a thing as constructive criticsm, but Simon doesn't do that. He doesn't even use tact! He needs to lighten up sometimes.

I think he does go too far at times. Paula gets the same points across with a lot more kindness.

Noop. That's Simon :) If the media doesn't like it they don't have to listen to him. Either way, I don't listen to the media, I listen to Simon.

He is rude, but that's the way that he markets himself and it has worked for him.
