Have an Announcement printed when you order the invitations: Like, "His name and Her name and the Children, name, name, name, would like to announce their wedding. We regret that attendance will be limited, but wanted to share our joy in this announcement."

If it's confusing and someone calls to ask if they're invited just say, well, you're very limited on attendance, but you do appreciate their consideration, you just aren't able to have everyone attend. Write it down, put it by the phone and read it when they call.

Who's getting married? You or one of your kids? If you're getting married again, there's no reason you should feel obligated to invite your ex-husband or his family.

If it's one of your kids, and it's a formal wedding/reception, it should be his/her decision who to invite, and those that don't think they can deal with it, should respectfully decline to attend. If, on the other hand, it's a small, informal affair (i.e., at home), then the host(ess) should decide and the other side of the family can have their own wedding celebration for the couple.

I think you do have to invite your children. I am not sure how much of their family you want to invite, but you are not at all obligated to invite their former inlaws. What family do you mean?

Book a destination wedding/honneymoon. I did two years ago. Just had a few of our close friends. Announce or have a reception when you return. Adults only it was great.
Provided your kids are adults, I recommend. If they are minors and they will be living with you guys, not a good idea.

Good luck.
