It depends what the car is used for. What I mean is if I drive in alot of traffic the whole time my leg gets tired from sitting on the clutch, so then I would prefer automatic. But if I want power and more control I would like a manual. with more control I mean if I need to brake and something happens to my brakes, I can also gear the car down to slow it down.

Automatic, no contest! My first car 20 yrs ago was a manual, and since then I've only ever had automatics and no way am I going back. These days they are virtually as quick and economical as manuals (and even more so, unless you really know how to make the most of your gearbox), and you have one hand free to hold the mobile phone (oops, that's not allowed!!) or drink your coffee (which oddly is allowed...!). Seriously, it lets you concentrate on the traffic etc., instead of shuffling gears. You don't want to keep adjusting your house temperature all the time up and down manually when they've invented thermostats that do the job automatically. So why would you change gears when they've invented automatics?!

Manual for racing because if done right its the best way to control and use the power from your engine but for a daily driver an automatic just because its easy and you can do other things then driving so to me the best cars have the tiptronic transmissions where you can just put it in drive and go or you can put it through the gears like an automatic so you get the best of both worlds

Standard for sure. I have only owned one automatic in all the vehicles I have owned. When Going down hills especially in the snow you can control your speed allot better in a standard that in an automatic. I have a 33,000 lb service truck. The first one I had was a standard and the second an automatic. My brakes did not get near as hot in the standard as they do in the automatic. The company wanted to go with automatics instead of standards. The other thing I like about standards is they get better mileage in town and on the highway.

it depends on what car it is , some cars suit automatic boxes and some don't , just imagine driving a 1 litre automatic metro which i have seen and not believed. a rover 75 would suit it and things that look like they should be driven at cruising speed with power behind it. with all the traffic these days automatic sounds better.

Manual. I just like the feel of changing the gears and I feel more in control of the vehicle. Automatic cars connotes laziness to me.
