These days 1gb of RAM should be the minimum, however there are other factors that can slow down your computer, such as spyware or a build up of programs running in the background. These can use up your RAM and effect the performance of your system. Increasing the RAM will help but there may be a cheaper and easier way.

You will probably have to increase it to 1024 MB (add another 512)
There is a chance that you need to change your graphics card though because you already have adequate RAM for the Sims 2 game. also try to close any other program before playing the game and especially you anti-virus, as it is disastrous for your RAM!!!

www.crucial.com

will show you what type you need. i suggest you go for 1 Gb or more. The Sims2 isn't a very intense game, but the more the merrier. Computer stores sell ram in all shapes and sizes, just make sure you have what kind you need and you'll be set.

I play Sims2 and i found when i got more ram from 512mb to 1gig ram it did run better, but still slow. Then i upgraded my video card from a 128mb to a 256mb vid card and THAT did the trick. You may need a new vid card, what are you using?

Oh and you can get RAM at any place that sells computers.

I've seen computers with less ram performing reasonable,I think it might be something else.
Clean your registry and defrag it,it can make a huge difference.
Cheers
