The nipples harden due to the taste of the fruit. Your taste buds are sensitive and are connected to your CNS (Central Nervous System) which can make your nipples go hard, or your hair stand on end. Try the experiment again and watch the hairs on your arm rise, its just your taste buds enjoying it.

My nipples certainly do not harden....
