I would like to know what is the most important thing to the average american. During the election season it seems the politicians and media tell the people what they want to hear and instead of listening to the people they feed the people on a variety of issues that never get addressed after election day.

Well, the war is an obvious one. Something needs to shift there if Bush doesn't pull off some miracle between now and 2009--when the next Pres takes over.
Health care is a disaster in this country. Costs keep going up and we get less and less for the money. Insurance companies are screwing us all over and we're helpless. I'd have to put that one at the top of the list, but I have no illusions it will improve no matter who is President.
Interesting question though.

Ending the war in Iraq and bringing the troops home should be the Number One priority.
Number Two should be in making a step toward balancing the federal budget - an almost insurmountable task considering how much red ink is there. President Hillary Clinton will have to appoint some extremely smart people in the key positions.
Number Three - giving the promised aid to the Katrina victims - many of whom are STILL WAITING for it.
Number Four - Sealing the borders and keeping out the massive influx of illegal aliens. The troops that are in Iraq could be put to better use there.
Number Five - Insuring tax breaks for the American middle class and repealing the Bush tax breaks for the rich.
Number Six - Guaranteeing that all Americans have health care.
Number Seven - Initiating talks with countries such as Iran and North Korea
Number Eight - Doing something about the threat posed by global warming and finding viable alternative fuel sources.
Number Nine - Insuring that a college education is available for all who want it
Number Ten - Making sure that our coastlines are guarded and that there are no terrorists coming in via that pipeline; this will entail beefing up the military presence and inspecting all cargo instead of just one out of every 100 containers.

Politicians are all liars, similar to weather persons. I think that the next as well as the present president of USA should start to dig itself out of the mire.
