Have you tried "Sleepy Time Tea"? What about warm milk, a good work out before bed, or over the counter sleep aids? If so, and none of these work, it's probably time to see a doctor and get a prescription. I have to take a prescription to help me sleep after all the rest quit working for me. Good luck.

The first step is to diagnose any underlying causes and treat the condition. For example, if insomnia is being caused by depression; once the depression is treated, the insomnia will often disappear without further medical help.
Non-drug treatments are usually the preferred first course of action

Have you tried this? have a nice bath to relax your body then get some nice music not to loud, then make yourself comfortable in bed . Then think that your body is full of sand how heavy it feel´s start from your leg´s up the way, how heavy they are. Now think that your skin is full of little holes and the sand is slowly pouring out off the little holes , relax, relax, slowly the sand is poring out of all the holes in your body , think of your arm´s how heavy they are keep thinking about the sand, slowly slowly making it´s way out off the holes in your body . Please try this it work´s. you will fall asleep.

Try reading quietly.
Put your radio on a 1hour setting, drift off to that.
Don't worry about the day's events.
Open a window if you're hot.

My brother has suffered from insomnia from ages and has recently discovered valerian root. It is either herbal or plant derivative. He swears by it.
