Most of my gay friends are extremely open about their sexuality, and have no trouble answering questions. In fact, I find gay people are often more open than straight people about discussing sexual issues.

Maybe you're putting them on the defensive with the type of questions that you ask. What do you mean "they can't prove anything"? Why should they have something to prove?

There is nothing that can be 'proved' about sexuality. Sexual orientation simply is what it is, and the only 'proof' we have is what people self-report. Some report being straight, others gay, bisexual, asexual, omnisexual, pansexual, whatever.

If you're talking about questions as to the naturalness or morality of certain sexual orientations, well, that's a subjective matter that tends to be seen through shades of societal approval. One cannot prove anything in this respect, although they can make convincing or ridiculous arguments for such.

I don't get mad when people ask questions about my sexuality, nor about ones where I can't 'prove' my answer . . . I only get angered at questions that are asked in the spirit of meanness and hatred, rather than curiosity and knowledge-seeking.

AMBER DEAR,

HOMOSEXUALS really don't get mad, we just get tired of ignorant, closed minded, people full of hate, much like yourself, asking questions that go beyond a simple yes or no answer. We CAN PROVE one thing, you are a sad excuse for a human being, all one has to do is look at the questions you posted and the questions you answered. How can one person be full of so much hate and poison. Why do you spend so much time in the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual question area anyway?

You know what is so funny: people always say the "Adam & Eve/Adam & Steve" line...the Bible is so incomplete, so misleading, so communistic. I mean, c'mon!

True, there are some things I believe could be true, most fictional stories have some truth to them. But this "Adam" mess is just too lame.

No one knows who was created, evolved from, any other "yadda yadda" you want to add...I've got a better question:

Who was Cain's wife? If, per the Bible, God created Adam & Eve, where did Cain's wife come from?

So, be careful of this religious soap box because it is very, VERY weak...not saying there's no truth in it, but even the truth can be weak.

why should we have to prove anything, it is just the way we were born. the bible is not the end all, it is stories that people have written over centuries. there have always been homosexuals they have been revered by many cultures. even the bible does not state that homosexuality is wrong it is not the norm by the bible's standards. let people love whom ever they want the world would be a happier place...just be nice...to all people.

Perhaps because the burden of proof rests on YOU if you want to treat us differently than other people. You can't "prove anything" (could you vague that up a little?) about MY sexuality either. And, in the end, it's mine and not yours, so you have no reason to have a problem with it.

Hmmm...I shall attempt to prove that Amber S is a Yahoo answers member.

1. Amber S. posted a question on Yahoo Answers.
2. Only Yahoo answers members can post questions.
So, in fact Amber S is a Yahoo answers member.

You happy?

See, when a person lives a lifestyle that is based on choices that they feel others would find offensive, they become defensive. You put your finger on it when you said they cannot prove a thing. Not being able to prove anything is why someone would get mad. If you cannot successfully argue from facts or law/ethics/culture, then personal attacks are the only strategy left.

We're not mad Amber, more like tired of answering these questions really...

But sometimes it provides opportunity to just give crappy answers too... like a shoutbox if you may...

Thanks for the questions... made me feel a little relieved from work stress today... A little shouting every now and then helps right?

I know its kind of funny how you ask them how they became gay and they rush and hurrie to say that they "had to be born that way" and "I didnt choose it,it chose me" and blah blah blah when they did chose it cause you are right god didnt make Adam and Steve he mad Adam and Eve and I think alot of the gays always denie that cause they know there lifestyle is un-natural so they rush to conclusions to make it sound like its a normal thing when its not!
