humans share a common ancestor with African apes and that fossils of these ancestors would ultimately be found in Africa. Prosimians are the ancestors of monkeys which was da last group in the suborder Strepsirrhines . Their moist nose is connected to the upper lip, which is connected to the gum, giving them a limit to the facial expressions they can manage. Their brain to body ratio tends to be smaller, indicating a lower intelligence. Their brain's olfactory lobes are larger, lending to the notion that they have a stronger reliance on smell. Their snouts are generally elongated giving them a dog-like appearance, although this is true of some monkeys, too.

Humans and monkeys evolved from a common ancestor. If we could see a picture of that ancestor, we would probably say it looks like some kind of monkey. Still, it would be very different from any monkey that is currently alive today.

Science tells us that modern monkeys and man branched off the same common ancestor a long time ago. We did not come from monkeys.

Small nocturnal insect-eating mammals.
You can see the whole course of our evolution by clicking the link in the source section of my answer, just in case you start wondering what a primitive version of a small nocturnal insect-eating mammal would look like.

in case you think of of existence as a family members then that's honest to assert that monkeys are our cousins. it may additionally be honest to assert that the excellent apes - chimpanzees, bonobos, gorillas, and orangutans - are our siblings, on account that we are greater heavily bearing directly to them than to monkeys. existence as a family members is an analogy, no longer the acceptable case, on account that species are no longer produced interior the comparable way that offspring are produced, whether species do selection of their ranges of relatedness the way close and distant kin do. in my opinion i like the family members analogy because of the fact it does emphasize our relatedness, the similarities that come from that, and in an somewhat actual way our useful and emotional dependence. One not often sees the word "family members of existence" (attempt a seek for it on the information superhighway). yet i think of it may want for use greater in many situations.
