what is the difference between hydralic lifting fluid and brake fluid ....can i use brake fluid in a bottle jack ...in fact can i use engine oil in a bottle jack ......as if i would

Use the correct fluid in all cases. In most cases highly qualified engineers have developed their products to work with specific fluids. You may know better but I wouldn't bet on it. In most applications using the incorrect fluids will destroy the seals. If your jack needs refilling I suspect it also needs overhauling.Sadly these days it is often cheaper to replace it.

You could use brake fluid in a bottle jack ,but you will find it very expensive and yes engine oil will work in the jack and a lot cheaper than brake fluid

Brake fluid is designed not to lose performance when subjected to heat. I've used engine oil in jacks before without any hassles.

Use the correct jack fluid you will maybe working underneath it, if it lets down sudenly on you could be dead , break fluid is to thin oil destroyes the rubber seals

its the seals made of different materials, so one lot will attack the other , right fluid for right oil
