Is there a community of spiritual people who live high in the mountains away from all this chaos much like Amish people?
I know there are Native tribes who still fight governments to claim these mountains but I don't belong to any of those tribes.....where can I go to find peace and escape this man made corruption? I'm getting older, wiser and more aware of the world around me. Depressed and tired by the system...I just want to follow the footsteps of those before me. Were does one go or how does one cope when getting to this point in life, any suggestions?

Cities are growing closer and closer to reservations. It's getting too crowed! I feel like an animal being moved out of its habitat!

They're called separatists and if you've been watching the news, the leader usually winds up abusing his followers in one way or another, Waco, Warren Jeffs and the FDLS, the group that all committed suicide thinking they were going to their reward up in space about 10 or so years ago. A few successful ones in the US are the Amish and Quakers, Hare Krishnas. The Krishnas are however not self sufficient for the most part, constantly asking people for donations to support their way of life. The Amish produce most of their own food, build their own buildings, use no electricity and sell hand made items to tourists and neighbours to bring in what little money they may need. They do have some connection with the outside world though (the Amish call them English).

There are some successful ones overseas...A squatters town in Denmark called Christiana for example where a number of people, mainly artists took over a group of abandoned buildings and live much in the way you describe.

There are a few individuals who are creating their own Edens here in the states. There was a feature on some news program not long ago about a family in Massachusetts who paid off all their credit card debt, turned their entire backyard into a small farm, put up solar panels on their roof and now live almost completely independent of stores, local government services etc. and they're in a suburb...not the country. So I think anything's possible. Can't escape taxes though!
