The Others released Hurley to go back to the camp. Michael and his son took off on a boat to leave the island(given to them by the others for Michael's betrayal of his 'friends'). Locke, Jack, Kate, and Sawyer were being held captive in the others camp. I think the episode ended with them at the end of the dock while Hurley runs away and Michael boats away.

No. But I did read an interview by Josh Schwartz, and he said that the finale would be great, satisfying, etc. He said it was the finale they wanted from the beginning of season 1. Look up the o.c. on yahoo and click on wikipedia. That will give you a lot of information, or at least as much as you'll be able to find.
