It cannot sustain the people that are now alive, most certainly not more. This is because the process of housing, feeding and generally providing for life is not up to the scale to provide life support for the masses.

Well, there were these two mathematicians back in the 70's (That's when about 5 billion people on Earth?). They did all the math and found out that if you were to give everybody on Earth 1 Acre of land, that they everybody on Earth could fit in Texas alone. Hope this helps.

I'd be guessing 20 billion, and more.
The problem is that there'd be a decrease in the quality of life. Wilderness areas would be sacrificed for farms. Single family homes would make way for denser housing. Fish farming would increase, with the attendant problems for wild sea life.
It's a trade-off.

Earth can alway sustain the nos of people populations however, it is the other way round, people is getting lesser and lesser due to baby birth rates are extremely low. My country is the one typical example. lol....

Depends on the technology, nowadays we don't depend on the land size the determind the capacity, but if you are talking about food supply,i daresay we need a population shrink.
