When you watch a real movie on TV, you can tell its a movie. When you watch a movie a friend made on their own camera, you can tell how fake it is.

It typically costs millions of dollars to create the look and feel of a professional Hollywood film. They have multiple cameras covering the same subject, professional cinematographers operating the cameras, sophisticated sound and lighting equipment that takes hours to set up. They use more expensive film than your friend does. (Your friend is probably shooting video, not film.)

There are a number of factors, first of all, the frame rate. The average home video camcorder runs at about 60 fps, while the industry standard is usually 24 fps.
Secondly, the camera quality. The big-budget films use industrial quality cameras, while your friends use what is known in the business as a "Drug Store" camcorder.
Another factor is the acting quality, the films use professionals, your friends are not.
Special effects, editing software, these are just some of the reasons.
Hope I could help

The camera and film quality has a lot to do with it. Not to mention lighting and makeup and professionals around every corner setting everything up.

It has to do with the type/size of film used.
