why would the dentist want to take my wisdom away from me? =(

No, it means you have throw-back tendencies in an evolving body. Caveman ancestors had "wisdom" teeth for extra grinding power of rough foods. Modern man no longer has a use for this and is evolving a smaller jaw that doesn't have adequate room for the extra teeth. Few people today can accommodate wisdom teeth comfortably and some people never develop them. Wisdom teeth are kind of like the appendix-----we have them but don't need them.

I did but I think getting wiser comes with age. I also had my wisdom teeth pulled out.

Yeah, a LOT wiser. Right after I paid the surgeon's bill to remove mine, I got dental insurance.
