Quite likely they "ran" his plate and found he had an outstanding warrent. When they pulled him over and checked his ID it confirmed that the driver was the person who they were after and arrested him.

Perhaps either the man, or the car matched a discription of something the Cops had a warrant for? I think you are most likely reading too much into the fact that the person was of mexican descent... I am sure they had their reasons, and if they were mistaken then he would have been released with no harm done other than a little lost time.

Maybe he was wanted and there was an arrest warrant issued for not paying child support.
Maybe he was driving a stolen vehicle.
Maybe he had beaten up his wife.
Maybe he had ran over someone.
Maybe he was an illegal alien.

There are many posibilities. But you don't give enough information to know exactly what happened, where, when, and why.

You crazy b*tch, it could have been anything!!! Probably because he didn't have a license or registration or and ID because he was an illegal. Several reasons right there. Why did the cops do that for is not proper English, did this happen to your dad?

Did you find out what really happened? Did you know the FULL story? Maybe that guy's license plate was stolen, or drugs, who knows what? But in America everyone is innocent until proven guilty.

Maybe they did a tag check, and the car was reported stolen.

If that's all you saw or know about the situation you're better keeping your thoughts and so called questions to yourself. You'll seem a lot smarter if you think before you talk......or type.

Do you know him personally...do you know that he was not a murderer, rapist, thief, dangerous felon, wife beater, etc...or had a bench warrant out for not appearing in traffic court? Or are you ASSUMING he was free of wrong doing?
