Has anyone ever seen it? I want to go on a trip with my drama club to go see it. I am a highschool freshman with overprotective parents. They said I could go if the play was "appropriate." Will they probably let me see it? (For movies, I am allowed to watch a lot of PG-13, but not if it has nudity, and stuff like that, but no R, regardless of what it's rated for.)

Yes, I saw the musical in London. It is basically about Glinda (the Good Witch of the North) and Elphaba (the Wicked Witch of the West) and their days in college together in Oz. It shows how they became friends despite their great differences, and developed the reputations we are most familiar with in the Frank L. Baum story. The musical is definitely family friendly. I would rate it PG, only because younger children could be frightened by the wizard and the witch, and the fact the wizard isn't as nice as he is in the movie.

Yes, Wicked is appropriate for all ages. The book is for young adults, but when they decided to make the musical, they wanted to make it suitable for all ages, which they did. On Wicked's official website, it says that Wicked is appropriate for about six and up. But everyone I know, from ten to sixty who have seen the play love it. So, this is to your parents, let her go! She'll love it, and it's appropriate for all ages! I hope you get to go, you'll love it. Good luck and Enjoy!

Yes, Wicked is appropriate. Also, tell your parents that it is against the law for actors to have sex or be onstage nude in any theatrical production that is not specified as pornographic or "adult."

I have not seen the play (I want to though!) but I have the CD of the soundtrack and there are no swears in it.

First of all DO NOT LET YOUR PARENTS READ THE BOOK!!!!!!!!! The book which the musical is based off of is pretty dirty but the musical it's self is vary family friendly and unbelievably amazing. Let your folks know that it's something you could take a young kid to and I sure they'll let you go.

Have Fun!

Show your parents this website:

Scroll down to the pink box where it shows "the basics"
There is a symbol of a family, indication that it is appropriate for children. (unless of course your parents are against witch craft or something...)
