Are they still shooting at Americans in Vietnam?

I'm going there, but I'm wondering if I should go heavy. You know, armed.

I will tell you the true fact. I've visited Vietnam many times already. A lot of sentimental Vietnam veterans come back to Vietnam as tourists and visited places where they used to engage in combats during the war to relive their memories. A lot of these veterans and those who used to be enemy Vietcongs met and relate to each other their experiences of the war. There's no hostility or animosity involved. They had put the past behind them and moved forward. They are now in their aging years, wiser old people. They agreed that the war was a mistake, millions of lives were lost in it and devastated the whole country. They got the lessons of that brutal war and learned from it.

About your question, the answer is that you don't need to carry any gun. It is very sad to think that most Americans still view Vietnam as a hostile nation up to this time. The Vietnamese are peace-loving people with a fledging economy. You could have also asked the same question when going to Japan or Germany, as they once been at war with America. The answer to it is self-evident.
