I'm 23, and I take the pill with strict discipline, I have never ever missed a single pill in over 2 years now. But lately my periods are getting shorter. Sometimes it lasts 5 to 6 days which is the normal span, 4 days, which is acceptable, 3 which is ok, but this last period only lasted 2 days. It was normal flow but not really heavy. I'm used to having normal periods. What could this be? Could I be pregnant? Has anyone heard of someone who got their periods every 28 days, been on the pill and still gotten pregnant? Serious question please don't write things that do not contribute. Thanks

My mistake, now that I count correctly, my period began about thursday in the early morning, before dawn, I was sleeping when it started. Yesterday at night, there was already no blood. So it's probably a day and a half, but still close to two

It is possible that you could be pregnant if your are sexually active as you know the pill is not 100%.There can be so many thing's that cause your period to change. The most common reason is stress. Also a lot of people don't know it but our bodies change every 7yrs.I am 34yrs old now but when I was in my early 20's I had very irregular periods and my doctor put me on the pill which helped me alot and when I turned 28 they became irregular again now I am back to a regular cycle again.Again like I said there are so many thing's that could be the cause the best thing to do is watch it over the next couple months and if it still concerns you talk to your doctor. It is also possible to go through an entire pregnancy and still get your period it happened to my oldest sister.Good luck to you.

Do you have access to a 24/7 health hot line? These are staffed by RN's, and an RN can give you an indicator here. If they can't answer your question, ask your doctor. It's also possible that seeing your doctor will be the answer from an RN.

As to your question about your cycle, the pill and pregnancy, well, there is no method of contraception that is 100% effective. There is no combination of methods of contraception that is 100% effective. And today's birth control pills have such a low dose of hormones that taking them at the same time every day is imperative. Even then, a minor illness of any type, or taking some types of meds, can render them ineffective the for remainder of that particular cycle.

Sometimes your Menstrual circle and blood flow adjusts to the way you are feeling at the time. When I was on the pill i had my period every 2 to 3 weeks. Changes of pills.and still going strong. Everyone is different .If you are still low next month suggest seeing you gynaecologist.

Often taking the pill for long periods of time has the tendency to reduce period length. I am assuming you are fine and it is just the prolonged use of the pill. If you are really concerened, ask your gyno. Don't worry!
