No.It is a view of how life was on the last day of the summer of 62.Still one of my favorites(seen it over 40 times),Even have a DVD that is autographed by several of the actors.

It's based very loosely upon George Lucas's teen years. The film was only made because Fracis Coppola told George Lucas that he could never make a "feel-good" movie, and Lucas proved him wrong.
