You broke a bad area, I did too one time. Walking with crutches I'm guessing. At least 6 weeks. Now your leg will have gotten weak, so your going to need rehab or exercises you can do at home. You will also tire easy at 1st. Some time it takes longer depending how many bones you broke. I've found some sites that will give you more information.

www.emedicinehealth.com/broken_foot
www.physioroom.com
www.wrongdiagnosis.com
www.firstaid.webmd.com
www.coheda.typepad.com

All sites have information of trearment, what to expect & rehah info.

Hope this helps you.

How do you know your foot is broken? Did you have an x-ray? Are you in a cast?

I broke my foot last June. I fell and wasn't aware I'd broken it, just thought it might be a bad sprain. Next a.m. it'd swollen and turned ugly colors (!), so we went to the doctor and sure enough a small bone had broken. I spent nearly 3 mos. in a cast and couldn't drive. Pretty much ruined my summer (I work for a school, so had the summer off).

If you only think it's broken, get it checked for sure. I had a cast which couldn't be removed put on. They offered me one I could put on and off, but I didn't trust myself to be that dedicated and wanted to be certain it'd heal properly. Breaks can take some time to heal. But with the walking cast, you'll be able to walk. FYI: a "walking" cast is just one of those spacy-looking black shoes that velcros closed that you wear when you're walking.
