I live in a large older home. Instead of turning on the heater i run 2 new portable radiator style heaters. My PG&E bill was 200.00 more this month and im wondering if this could possible be the reason. It seems unlikely. Does anyone do the same thing and if so is this the same case for you. I ran the heaters alot but not continually. I live in the stockton area.

if they are electric, yes. the most wasteful form of heating is via electricity.

This depends on the size of the heaters, usually they are rated in watts. If you multiply the watt rating by the total number of hours that you used them this month that will give you the total watt/hours that the heaters used. Your bill also should break down between gas and electric. See which part of the bill the increase was on, then look to see which appliances and devices used the most energy for both gas and electric.
