Pros- The US is the only country willing to help any nation, that include militarily , food program, medical, Aid, and disaster relief.
We lose more people helping other countries than any nation on earth. The EU, China, Russia, Middle-east, South America, Africa, and Asia all need the US present. The problem is these countries invite us to help solve their problems. (Iraq is different)
We are perceived to be the world police due to the UNITED NATION inability to do the job it was chartered to do. If the so called UNITED NATIONS would just do it's job, the US role would be less visible. Ex..The Iran Nuclear issue should be resolve by the UN, However the US is having to take a more pro-active role, which may include military actions(unfortunate). This single action will be perceived by the world as US being a bully.
The EU and the United Nation know that Iran with a nuclear weapon will destablelize the mid-east, but will do nothing. The question is what other country is willing to risk lives and money to keep the mid-east free of nuclear weapons,,you guessed it,,The US. When countries are in need who do they call,,. STOP asking for our assistance and you will see less of us. period. Ask EU, South America, Africa, Russia, and Asia for medical, military assistance, and monetary funds.
I think you know where this is going.

Cons- Envy and Jealousy by friends and Allys IE..EU,China,Russia, and THE UNITED NATIONS.
None of these countries are willing to put lives or money on the line to help other nations. EU don't have the military and The UNITED NATIONS is useless.
The only thing left for these countries, is to make the US look like bad guys by criticizing our every move. The UN know that the US is doing their DIRTY work for them.

If you want the definitive answer to these two questions then read a book by Gore Vidal .Title is Perpetual War for Perpetual Peace. How We Got To Be So Hated.
The Federation of American Scientists has catalogued nearly 200 military incursions since 1945 where the US has been the agressor.
Result??? Response .

"appealing British Columbia" hahaha yet overal all BC is somewhat solid only in case i'll handle this, although i'm specific you recognize. We are one of the first nations ever, in history, to conquer and then just give up the need to conquer. Each civilization expanded until it began its own deterioration. So, we are still conquering, in an underground way., through economics.
That is deceitful, it seems.
But at least people can speak their own language and practice their own religions, wherever they are.
We have become a different kind of Big Brother (although we increasingly do resemble 1984, with GPS and terrorism codes that violate our rights)...
and while we are always watching the "Little People", as our egos might secretly call them, at least they have a certain amount of sovereignty!
