It depends on what sound card you have in your pc. Chances are it is a Creative brand card. Best way to find out what card you have (drivers too) is to right click My Computer and open Properties.
Under properties click the Hardware tab. Then click the Device Manager button. Scroll down to the Sound, Video, and Game controllers. Click the + to open it up. If you have any yellow question marks you will have to install them. Otherwise you could right click on it and select Update Driver.
Or if you know that it is a Creative card, you could go to creatives web site and download the drivers from there.

None are listed on HP's site at http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?os=228&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&product=90390&lang=en# so chances are HP uses drivers that are built into Windows.

Go to www.hp.com and find the driver you need. You will need to uninstall the existing driver and install it again.
