Hi there dear. You have received some very good answers and I am not sure what I can say that has not been said before.
I suppose the most important thing ( and sometimes the trickiest) is to pinpoint when you are ovulating.
Taking the first day of your last period as day number one, count to the day that you expect your next period. You will ovulate at a half way point between these two dates. The problem with just saying, day 12 or from day 7-11 is that it is going to be different for every woman. If you only go 25 days between periods your periods you will get a different answer than someone who routinely goes 30 days. Do you see what I am getting at?
Another important thing that was pointed out to you by some answers was that your cervical fluid is an important indicator. Many women can tell by that alone what days are fertile and what days are not. Dry days are non-fertile days and those days that are watery and copious are fertile days, it doesn't get much more complicated than that. If you are not used to paying attention to that sort of thing though it is new information.
Having figured out what day you think you ovulate on it is best to concentrate making love on the 3 days before, the one day during and probably one day after. I only mention one day after because the egg is only viable for 12 to 24 hours after it is released and all the sperm in the world will not do any good if the egg is too old.
The days before ovulation are good because the cervical fluid will help the sperm get where they need to be and also keep them alive until the egg is released.
If you have not been trying this yet, a pillow placed under your hips can be helpful. As can staying in that position for about 20 minutes until you get up. This seems to do the trick for so many women and yet as a pregnancy councelor I know that the opposite is not true as a form of birth control so it does not make a great deal of sense. Technically, you could get up and jump up and down and it should not interfer with pregnancy! Still, many women that are trying to conceive tell me that this seems to help....so there you are. Maybe it is just the mental image that you are doing something to help, I am not sure.
After these sorts of things have not done any good you get into the world of fertility testing and all of that. It is too soon for you to be significantly worried to go that route.
I would suggest that you relax, have fun, it will happen. It would not hurt to be taking prenatal vitamins if you have them and if you don't please make sure that you are taking something with the required amount of folic acid in it. Ideally you should be taking folic acid even before you are pregnant.
Good luck honey! You have SO much to look forward to.
Love and Blessings

My first baby was unplanned but my last one and this one were planned and I concieved after the first month of trying...During ovulation your cervical mucous (discharge) will get very slimey and thin like raw egg whites or snot..U can notice it when u wipe after using the restroom or if u check yourself internally. When u are ovulating also your cervix becomes in a high position inside your vagina where it would be hard for u to reach if u were to try,it would also be very soft and wet,u can try this at home and is pretty easy...Another thing is after sexual intercourse (preferably) missionary position, lay on your back with your legs elevated in the air straight up for 10-15 minutes...I also had the help of the ovulation calendar u can download the free 45 day triasl at www.ovulationcalendar.com..this is very helpful and works great! The ovulation kits do not work very accurately, they have been known to give false results,I wouldnt waste my money on one! Good luck!

how long have you been trying? all it takes is the sperm to meet the egg to conceive sounds easy right? well if there are no live sperm or if something is blocking the egg( if one is even released) then it can be difficult. if no pregnancy after 10 months of trying make an appointment with ob/gyn and start the process of testing for infertility. do you or your husband smoke or drink alcohol or are exposed to environmental elements? those little sperms are very delicate!if your over the age of 30 only try for 6 months and then make an appt with ob/gyn. some of the tests done on you are based on your cycle and it can take an additional 3 months to get those tests completed. good luck we had trouble, found the problem (small, very small pulop in uterus, ovarian cyst and scaring from a ruptured appendic tying down/back my tubes) had surgery and was pregnant 10 days later. ended up with 3 sons in less than 4 years wow crazy

It might sound gross, but you can tell if you are at a fertile time of the month by your vaginal mucus. A normal pattern would be to be dry the 3 or 4 days after your period, and then wet for about 4 days then dry again. The wet days are the days that show you that you are fertile. It worked for me. I took classes on how to chart my own cycle, and my husband and I do not use birth control. By following this we are able to avoid or achieve pregnancy. It really has worked wonderfully.
Also, I would suggest this book: Fertility, Cycles & Nutrition by Marilyn M. Shannon
Best of luck!

It didn't take me 6-12 months to conceive. But every women is different. It took me one month to conceive a healthy baby. I didn't change my diet but my boyfriend and I quit smoking and drinking. I excerise daily too. Tips would be:
Afetr intercourse either elavate your legs or lay down for 30-45 minutes.
I did that and look I am pregnant. But who knows...it might have been something else. Only God will determine when you will conceive.
Good luck.
