It seems that the whole world is using "So" as an adverb in the beginning of the sentence instead of at the end. I believe that this was first heard on the TV show,"Friends" It drives me crazy and I just want to know if this was the correct usage.
Thanks so much.

A more appropriate way to say it would be "I REALLY do not want to go".

"Friends" is designed to appeal to a mass audience and most of that audience is not well-educated.

I have another one for you.

"You've got mail."

Although many consider that phrase (... have got ...) to be grammatically correct, a better way to express that sentence is "You have mail".

"Have got" is redundent.

Always assume that when there is mass-marketing involved, there is a better way to express oneself.

well, really, what does the word so mean?

i went to the store so i would have food to eat (inorder)
i could not find my green pants, so i wore the blue ones (who knows meaning?,,, instead?)

the computer wasnt working so my friend rebooted it,,,, (action? instead of then? )

so is used as an adverb, to give emphasis, just like totally,,,, really etc

If the "Friends" characters used it, indicates by itself it is not correct.

it's not grammatically correct, however, sometimes it works for how you really feel!
