(4/11) / (3/8)

This is what's known as a complex fraction (fractions within fractions). What you need to do is multiply the top and bottom of the fraction by the LCD of 11 and 8 (which is 88). Showing this to you in steps, we have

[(4/11) (88)] / [(3/8) (88)]

Note that on the top, the 88 cancels into an 8 because of the 11. On the bottom, the 88 cancels into an 11 because of the 8 on the bottom. Therefore, our answer is

[4(8)] / [3(11)]

Simplifying that, we have

32/33

√x + 3 = √4x - 8 I am considering that 'x' is inside '√' in √4x now √4 = 2 So the expression becomes √x + 3 = 2√x - 8 Now subtracting 3 from both sides √x = 2√x - 8 - 3 Subtracting 2√x from both sides √x - 2√x = - 11 √x (1 - 2) = -11 -√x = -11 Multiplying both sides by -1 √x = 11 Squaring both sides x = (11)^2 x = 121

The only thing you have to remember to solve compound fractions is "outter times outter / inner times inner".

(4/11)/(3/8), 11 and 3 the inner numbers, 4 and 8 the outter.
(4*8) / (11*3)

Type it into google like this (4 / 11) / (3 / 8) = 0.96969697
very easy, otherwise you start inside () then divide

4 / 11 = (0.363636364)
3 / 8 = (0.375)
so......
(0.363636364) / (0.375)
(0.363636364)/ (0.375) = 0.969696971
same answer 0.969696971 or 32/33

or you can multiply very easy just flip your second fraction and now you can multiply instead of divide..much simplier

4/11 * 8/3 = 32/33
