I would go the classical way and learn acoustic first. Then you will be able to play anything. On the acoustic you have to go by sound as their are no frets and that is a higher training than having a guitar with frets. That makes it too easy. Of course I didn't get trained that way, but I was just a naive little kid at the time and I didn't know better.

If you mean bass guitar or acoustic guitar, I would say bass guitar is easier to get started on. If you learn, like, 10 notes, you can play pretty much any song and it's just a matter of learning to play in rythym.

On acoustic guitar, you can learn, like, 6 chords and play a lot of songs, but as soon as you have to do a barre chord, there is a big step up in hand strength and coordination that's needed. Once you can do it, you're in and you can play all the barre chords, but getting there is painful (literally).

If you mean electric bass vs acoustic bass, it's electric bass. The frets make a huge difference.
