I'm just curious about this, because this is what i have heard to be true.... is it true?

Not if they grew up and became a man.
Just because a male has years upon them and thinks sexual escapades and flexing muscles in sports or with younger women is proof of their immortality does not mean they ever reached adulthood mentally.
What is male mid life crisis, it does have a certain point , changes in body chemistry, brain functions, limp ah .ah mmn, oh yes sagging muscles.
Knowing old farts is an interestng study of mine.
I have aquaintences who never grew out of 18 years of age mentally, and were most assuredly not studs or much desired by any females then but are using their wealth and dreams of immortality through chemials to try and become one before they die.
Looking for youth lost for good is not just a male crisis as females act in much the same way somewhere during their beginning of mid age, 35 or 40 years, they all begin to wonder if they made the right choices , missed out on too many pleasures, and why and the hell they did what with whom and would they do it again.
The physical parts of mid life effectng the mind at mid life, most assuredly but sixteen years?
I think it is more like 20 for men and high 20's through 30s' for women as love at sixteen was too quick to realy enjoy it.
Mark Twian "Letters From the Earth has a good example within it of old men but it would apply to old women as well?
Talking of the church pious nature of old men towards sex among the young and how bad it is but give that old man his youth back once again and he would seek out a maiden right quickly.
It also gives mention of a woman being like a candle holder and a man like the candle. A candle becomes limp and burns out while the candle holder is good for many more candles.
16 is a time to play, 20's for playing longer, 30's for enjoying play, 40's for wanting more time to play, and 50's thru death trying to play as if you were still a teen or 20, 30 or 40.
Where are those bottle of pills anyways, one for before play and other ones to get over playing to hard?

YES! Having said that emphatically, I can also say many women do too...example plastic surgery! But, back to your question, I believe it is a time in a male's life where they have either achieved their aspirations and feel they should reward themselves by being "young" again, or more likely have failed to reach their personal goals and start looking around for a quick fix to make them feel better and still young enough to achieve that dream of theirs. It does seem to occur in their late 30's to mid fifties, as that is a prime marking point in their lives in connection with women, family and their career. The degree it happens is as varied as the man's overall personality. My very responsible, budget minded father went out one morning and came home with a convertible, so out of character for him it was laughable, rag top , four on the floor, dual exhaust little white two seater! That would be minor.....my husband on the other end of the spectrum of mid life crisis, bought the sports car, moved out and realized much to his regret the "grass was not younger on the other side"...ha ha! I myself didn't have time for the mid life crisis, as I was working hard to support the three teenage daughters my husband left behind in his search for the good life. Luckily for me, I'm too old now to have one!

just ask any women who has been dumped by her husband of 30 + years because he suddenly felt the need to find himself and the only way for him to succeed was to get a sports car and hook up with his 23 year old Secretary. I think you will find that the answer his hell yes men have mid life crisis's.

I think this psychobabble was invented by a female that didn't want to face her own inadequacies. If I can own a nice car and hook up with a younger woman, why not? Don't women have mid-life crisis's ?

I heard that too. Men in their 20's don't want to commit but when they get old they want to commit with woman in their 20's.
