honestly, probably not. when you think about it, everything you do you benefit from, even if it's indirectly and not noticeable to you.
but most of us do things with good intentions and that's the most important thing

Every night for two years I spent hours hanging out with a friend of mine at her work to help her cope with allot of problems she was going through. Put a HUGE dent on my social life and wallet as this was happening at a bar but she needed my help and that made it worth it.

I think everything you do benefits you. No matter how hard you try to do something for someone else, you also gain something for yourself. An example would be self confidence.
