Do they have a responsibility to elevate and educate other blacks in America? Or would you say no; we should not expect anything. Are they not the model by which all other black potential is judged by whites? White People seem to embrace Sen. OBAMA, can't the argument be made that all educated blacks have the same potential.

I don't think Obama and other politically successful blacks owe a particular duty to black citizens. The best thing they can do is to continue to work to improve the lot of all americans... to do anything else would only invite charges of preference.

Quite frankly it is the poor citizens, not necessarily the black citizens, who are the population most in need of symptathetic leaders. Blacks tend to be over represented among the poor so any benefit to the poor would likely benefit blacks disproportionately.

People in this country have the responsibility to take advantage of the many opportunites available to elevate and educate themselves and their families. We can't sit waiting for a miracle.

As for whites judging blacks, how about judging folks on their individual merits or lack thereof?

You don't need to argue that all educated blacks have the same potential. All educated PEOPLE have the same potential. Why should blacks be particularly challenged to demonstrate their worth? Do we ask the same of white candidates?

For decades America has been run by mostly white politicians, what have they done for white Americans?

(I think I will Stick this Q up and you can check the As for yourself)

They have constantly favored the elite and influential, they have sucked up to interest groups and anyone who commands enough following to influence voters.
The same can be said of most democratic governments throughout the world
Why should we expect any different from black American politicians, they will do the same as all others and cement and reinforce their power base, whilst building a following that will keep the votes coming to ensure they stay in power.
Of course they will do the expected thing and look after the interests of black Americans, to a point, as long as those black Americans will vote for them.
If they alienate the majority (white) vote by progressive measures towards their own ethnic group it would be interesting to see if they would choose principals or power.

This should not be a black or white thing. It should be a people thing. As long as we keep injecting color or race into the equation there will never equality amongst people.

Black people need to clean up their drugs and "gangsta" perception before they try to get a black president.
