Wellllll---It was Voltron. Expect to see it in theatres soon. Retro 70's-80's bad cartoons are the new thing for major motion pictures. It will probably be a Michael Bay film.

And even before Voltron you had Gatchaman aka Battle of the Planets aka G-Force which were a group of young people in colorful costumes, doing martial art moves, riding fantastic vehicles to go bust up the baddies from outer space.
