everything coming into the country will have to pass through customs....doesn't necessarily mean they will open your package (very few get opened)
technically there is an import tax that should be paid. however, for such a small item like a cd it's not really an issue.
if they do open your package, they wouldn't open the cd case itself or anything like that
I buy my guitars from a japanese company direct and haven't had any probs so far....can't imagine a small item like a cd would cause any snags

Hi,
everything will go through customs but they only spot check random items so the chances of yours getting opened are quite slim.
Also, not every CD bought brand new is shrinkwrapped anyway, some labels do not wrap them this way, its just the way some labels work so dont be worried if it isn't wrapped.

The CD will go through customs. It will more than likely arrive unopenned, as in still in the shrinkwrap.
If it is openned, for some security reason, it will save you the hassle of openning it. If it arrives damaged by customs, they will be responsible for the replacement value. Open does not mean used.

Everything entering the USA has to go through Customs. They may or may not open it, but the package still has to go through the Customs office.

If it's bubble-wrapped or packed in bubble wrap and mailed, there is no reason for it to go through customs. People mail things back and forth to their families in Japan all the time, without them being inspected by customs.

Yes and no. Like you, I ordered about 50.00 worth of candies which included pockeys, gummys, gum, chocolate etc.. From a companie in SHINJUKU, at the airport they tore into the package and threw the candy away. But a different time, I ordered from a different company that was from OSAKA , I ordered the same ammount, and they had no problem, spent 1 day in customs.

If you want the CD, then get it. Don't get so worked up over something so trivial as customs.
