When I am browsing on the internet and the windows or tabs what ever they are open up so that I can look at something, when I close these tabs my internet closes entirely and I have to log back on. I would like to fix this.

This must be Internet Explorer 7 you are talking about. This particular glitch has not been fixed yet. If you keep IE7 you'll have to live with it. If you want to get rid of IE7 and go back to IE6 until they DO get it fixed, click on Start, Settings, control panel, and add/remove programs, and the show updates box at the top. When the list loads, find IE7 and click Yes to remove it. After removal, close control panel and restart the computer. It will revert back to IE6 and your problem will be over.

Do you click the small individual "X" on each tab to close just the tab?

If you click the big normal red X in the corner that will close the whole browser.

Make a new Tab now and to the right of the tab there is small x to scroll over and you need to click on that to close the tab.
