Lead out (paper at the front) is much more convenient if you are the "spin and rip" paper user. This method allows for much more freedom with the paper and the ability to get it with one hand should you not want to take the other off of the book you are reading.
Lead in (paper towards the wall) can sometimes make it harder to find the lead, thus creating confusion and inconvenience at a time when those factors are really not needed.
In all, I would definately recomend that the paper be towards the front, leading edge, of the roll for ease of use and the freedom from unnecessary inconvenience.

over the top so it is away from the wall. if you have a tile bathroom, the paper will stick to the damp tiles if hung the other way. and since we're solving the age old bathroom questions; if everyone puts the lid down when finished, the seat will always be down for her!! besides, who wants to look at the bowl?

The TP should hang on top and front, not against the wall. It can get bacteria on it.

i have always found that it depends on the height of the holder, down low ,to the front is easier, up high the rear is just as easy to grab...no pun intended
