Centre depends on how you want to measure it. The Ordnance Survey says here

The town is correctly spelt Meriden.
But that's supposed to be the centre of just England.

If you were to cut out a cardboard map of the UK and balance it on a pin, it would balance with the pin point on Meriden (so called because it is in the middle - or meridian - of the country). Meriden is between Birmingham and Coventry, in the West Midlands.

There is a town near Birmingham. called Meridien, which is supposed to be the geographical centre. But it isn't, according to the BBC - http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/2323451.stm
