I am pretty confident that all of the supernatural claims you mention are mistaken. And even more, I'll give you my reasons.

First off, and most importantly, the burden of proof lies with the one making the extraordinary claim (i.e. "I can cast spells") and to date, there is no evidence to support ANY of these claims. In fact, all evidence counters these claims quite convincingly.

Second, the books, "Why People Believe Weird Things" and "How We Believe" by Michael Shermer would be good reads for anyone concerned with this.

As to WHY people claim such things...

Though it is difficult to be specific (we all have reasons to believe in things) some possible reasons why people believe in supernatural things:

1) Humans have an uncanny need for control; for explanations to the phenomena we experience, and further, have a real knack at creating them (often based upon insufficient evidence or our misperceptions). We can allow our imaginations to get the best of us in such circumstances.

2) Certainly many people experience "something strange" at various times in their lives, but though this often just turns out to be simply a natural occurrence, THEY cannot currently explain it.

3) Our past experiences, preexisting beliefs (including fears), limited sensory ability and our faulty reasoning influence our behavior and explanations. This faulty reasoning includes several common errors we are all guilty of at times:

Appeal to authority; Appeal to group; Appeal to Ignorance; Believing the (currently) unexplained is inexplicable; After-the-Fact Reasoning -mistaking correlation (two events coinciding) with causation (one event influencing the second; Misunderstanding Probability; Misunderstanding Science principles; and this list goes on... (for a more complete list please refer to Shermer's Book, or 25 ways we can err link below)

Remember, as humans, we can have faulty reasoning, we can have delusions (or daydreams) that are, effectively, "real" to us (a natural occurrence), we can mistake what we see/hear/feel (ask any magician) and we likely won't be able to readily explain everything we experience. It is when we try to with incomplete/mistaken evidence that we can get into trouble...

A good example is given above relating spells to prayer: not only is there no evidence to support that prayer can have any effect on others (see link) the "power" described by rubbing two hands together is generated by (mostly) friction, not any supernatural power.

But, I have found, that even all of this explanation (my tirade, the websites, the books) will not "convert" most true believers from superstitions because, after all, it is what they WANT to be true that matters most to them, not reality.

Also there is The Million Dollar Challenge, when that prize is claimed, we can ALL start to believe, until then...

I believe in witches because I am one! Witches are nothing more than people who practice the art of spell-craft (better known as witchcraft). We don't hold any supernatural powers, we don't cast our silhouettes across the face of the full moon on our brooms . . . that stuff is of fairy tails.

And yes, we do perform spells. See, spells work the same way prayers do. Our being is made up of energy. To prove this, rub your hands together really fast. You start to feel heat, right? Heat comes from energy. Now, let your hands rest. The buzzing you feel is energy escaping. Neat, huh?

Also, our brains are capable of sending out, I believe, 7.3 MHz - much like a radio. So, when our energy is up, from praying or spells work, so is our energy. Then, when we're done, our energy is released into this massive collective of energy called, the universe. There, our energy is like a ripple in a pool of water - it makes it's mark and we wait for the results.

I don't much believe in demons. Demons are a Christian concept, and are the embodiment of evil. Well, I'm not Christian and I don't believe in pure evil. I think every living thing has it's positive and negative, black and white, good and bad, Yin and Yang. Look at earth, for example. She gives us food, shelter, clothing etc., but she can also be brutal with massive storms, brush fires, earthquakes etc.

Yes I do, as a practising witch. Magic is simply a form of positive thinking helped along by some props (candles, herbs and the like). It is not as dissimilar to the Judeo-Christian prayer or Buddhist chanting as some people think, but due to fiction and programs like "Charmed", "Bewitched" etc. it is often thought of as something silly girls do without their knickers on. It isn't. Magic, as a form of intervening with the powers that be, is as ancient as human kind. You can see evidence of belief in magic in every civilisation across time. The only reason people look down their noses at it is general ignorance or because their spiritual belief system is biased against it.

No I don't believe in magic but if you investigate the bible you will see lots of references to Jesus expelling demons from people. So yes I do believe that demons exist. Jesus being the son of God has all power over evil though. The Bible is true! If you have a read of it the truth is there to see. I would recommend starting with the New Testament first-The four gospels of Mathew, Mark, Luke and John. May God bless you.

Whitches are real... a sort of eath and nature based religion... Far better then others as no sex hang ups with morality

ie as long as you harm none do as you will.

Ie affair not nice as hurtful but 3 some if single fine or swings party fine if safe sex.,

Also they are not sexist or homophobic.

Spells are just what people thought was what we now call pyschology, medicine, science, sex psychology (ie girls getting guys to do what they want) mixed up with words and gestures (bit like a prayer with herbal medicine thrown in or me saying take this magic feather and girls will like you (not mgic just a confidence booster)

Demaond prob came from people tripping out on dodgy musrooms or ergot fungus on rye bread (LSD comes from ergot), or deformed folk etc

Much like the Loch Ness Monster maybe a giant Squid

The parting of the red seas appears to be a tidal wave ie water suddenly withdraws then wall of water and pillars of fire.

Virgin births are very common.

The story of Noah appears to be a rip of of gilgamesh which was amyth made up of folk tails about what appears to have been a huge flood that made the black sea not covered the world when a bit of land near istanbul collapsed like a huge damn burst so the Mediteranian flooded a valley.

etc

Most of these have some basis in truth

Not magic" per se. So called magic with spells, incantations, charms and the like is basically a "smokescreen" for the untrained and unsure to follow prescriptions for testing purposes. The real deal is energy, plain and simple. You are only able to access this energy if your motives are pure. You must be proven before you are able to do this because the energy has to be used in a responsible way or else it can backfire on you if it is used for selfish purposes.

i've got self assurance in esoteric/occult magic. and that i've got self assurance, yet won't be able to instruct that it has an existence outdoors of the nation-states of psychology. ie i've got self assurance spells do no longer want the recipient to have self assurance interior the existence of magic, purely that the caster believes it will artwork. in case you assert in any different case clarify how climate magic, and different spells which impression that that are regularly looked as though it would be "inanimate platforms" artwork? fact asserting the recipient has to have self assurance as properly because of the fact the caster, could mean that the climate has to have self assurance in magic! think of a demanding difference between magic being defined as white or black misses a lot out. Do you believe in magic?
In a young girls heart
How the music can free her
whenever it starts

And it's magic
if the music is groovy
it's makes you feel happy like an old time movie

I'll tell ya about the magic
It'll free your soul
but it's like trying to tell a stranger 'bout rock n roll

If you believe in magic, don't bother to choose
If it's just band music or rhythm and blues
Just go and listen
It'll start with a smile
It won't wipe off your face no matter how hard you try
Your feet start tapping
And you can't seem to find
How you got there
So just blow your mind

Do you believe in magic?
Come along with me
We'll dance until morning, just you and me
and maybe, if the music the right
I'll meet ya tomorrow
so late at night

We'll go a dancin' baby then you'll see
all the magic's in the music and the music's in me, yeah

Do you belive in magic? Yeah.
Believe in the magic in a young girl's soul
believe in the magic of rock n roll
Believe in the magic that can set you free
Ohhhh, talkin' bout magic

Do you believe like I believe?
Do you believe in magic?
Do you believe like I believe?
Do you believe in magic?

I believe in magick and I believe in spells.
Magick creates change in the world by use of non-physical means. I don't believe in flying around on broomsticks or turning people into toads.
But there are many aspects of magic which are quite real and I have experienced personally, as well as others that I have observed and which are documented in history

No magic in this real world BUT - I think we have been ignoring another world - the DREAM world. All that stuff exists there and by the way just what is this rich, multi-dimensional, multi-age, where you can fly and there is magic, world? The dream world is an amazing thing, really. And, yes, there certainly is magic in the dream world. As well as all those other things you mentioned.
