A PhD holds a post-graduate degree in their academic discipline, but that discipline can be medicine. (My ENT holds a doctorate in medicine.) No matter what, a PhD is a real doctor. To indicate otherwise could be construed as an insult to the amount of work and discipline that is involved in getting that doctorate, and I doubt that my sister, among others, would take that without at least saying something.
A medical doctor holds, at the very least, a bachelors degree in medicine, and uses the letter MD (for medical doctor) behind their name.

Of course we are real doctors -- just not doctors of medicine.
In most fields, the terminal degree is a doctorate. It indicates a mastery of the field. There are lots of doctorates that you can get in the professional fields (MD -- Medical Doctor, DVM -- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, JD -- Juris Doctor -- a legal degree, DD -- Doctor of Divinity, DEd -- Doctor of Education.
The PhD (Doctor of Philosophy) is an academic degree -- and is considered a higher degree than the professional doctorates. The only real advantage to having a higher degree is that at college graduations, we get to wear a cool tam hat while other doctors have to wear those ugly mortarboards.

They are not medical doctors. They have received their doctorate degree. They had to write a thesis and make a presentation to other PhD's. They are highly educated but they are not medical doctors and can not give meds.

If you're talking bout doctors AKA medical practitioners, they're not. To be a doctor (physician or surgeon), you need to hold a Bachelor degree in medicine either MBBS (awarded by the Commonwealth), MBBCh (Ireland) or MD. That is the 1st stage to become a medical doctor. To be a speacialist you need to hold a Master degree in relevant field (ENT, Internal Medicene & etc) and being registered under the Royal College of Physicians or Surgeons and then you'll be awarded MRCP (Members of Royal College of Physicians). Later, if you're willing to further your studies you'll be awarded with FRCP (Fellowship of Royal College of Physicians)...

Doctor of Philosophy (from Greek Διδάκτωρ Φιλοσοφίας, meaning "Teacher of Philosophy"), typically abbreviated Ph.D., for the Latin "Philosophiæ Doctor" or D.Phil., for "Doctor philosophiæ", is an advanced academic degree. In the English-speaking world it has become the most common form of "research doctorate" (i.e., a doctorate granted for advanced study and original research in some field). In many countries it is the highest degree awarded in most disciplines.

because of the fact they do no longer understand that the be conscious "physician" truly skill "instructor", and that the Ph.D. is a greater physically powerful degree than the MD. they think of a fashion or the different "physician" skill "medicine", and that those people who've doctorates in different fields try to take some thing removed from medical docs, on a similar time as truly, if something, the different is genuine! that's organic lack of information. although, i'll assert that on account that medical docs are in many situations in charge for the existence and death of such persons, that's on no account the case with Ph.Ds, that's comprehensible that they understand them greater. i in my opinion have not any objection to that; I merely want human beings could end criticizing people who desire to apply the titles they have greater effective than earned as though it have been some style of a unusual pretention!

This shows how college destroys the mind. If these people were practical, they would change the title, Doctor, into something else. Truly intelligent people come up with changes that avoid confusion. All college means is work without pay--it's slavery, you'd have to be stupid not to see that. College students live like 12-year old because they're afraid to grow up. Acadummies, who continue to hide in academentia, actually like living in Peter Pan's Neverneverland.
Bachelor of Science is BS--you know what that means.
MS--more of the same
PhD--piled higher and deeper

Not a medical doctor.
The doctors used to be medicine people.
The medicine people used to be the only educated people on the planet, thousands of years ago.
Nowadays, a PhD has earned the right to say that they have studied enough to become an expert.
But that's not really good enough in engineering, or psychology, or things like that.
There are even more detailed classes that these people can take.
These classes are called
Post graduate classes.
When you hear that, you're talking about well-educated people, who probably don't know anything about what most of their colleagues are studying, and can't really realte to people liek you and me!
