The Bible clearly states it in Romans 1:27 saying "men leaving the natural use of the woman... men with men, working that which is unseemly". God intended from the begining, for man to be like him, but Adam and Eve were decieved by Satan who came in the form of a snake, which is an animal, and Adam sinned against God, making him lower than God and the angels. But he was still above animals. Then later in the cities of Sodom and Gommora, men became homosexuals. Abraham went their to rescue all the righteous people that were there. While they were their, the homosexuals, tried to force the men to come out and have sex with them. Abraham and the few people escaped and God destroyed the cites with brimstone and fire. Nowhere in the Bible does it say Jesus tolerates sin, especially homosexuallity. He forgives it but he doesn't tolerate it. But he can't forgive it if they don't repent.

I'm not sure how repenting would make one's hypothalmus secrete the neurochemicals which would make one straight.

Sodom and Gomorroah were destroying for an attempt to raping of God's angels, not homosexuality.
Romans 1:27 refers to people denying what is innately natural, if it is a sin to deny one's heterosexuality, is it a sin to deny one's homosexuality?
Levitican law used to refer to having gay sex in a pagan temple as a sin, not homosexuality in general. A few "mistranslations " kinda changed the verse and the meaning of it.

Hey Joseph C, back with your "statistics" are we? Why do I see some from NARTH, the Family Research Institue and Paul Cameron? All three are notorious for their bogus studies on homosexuality.

And yes, while Jesus does forgive anyone who comes to him, he does not tolerate sin. Would you tolerate a murderer, a thief, a pedophile?

I'm not even gonna start with the old testament where the issue is obviously gang rape and degrading people. Forcing visitors to have an orgy? That's the worse inhospitality ever!

Romans? And that's coming from the same author who said:

"As in all the congregations of the saints, women should remain silent in the churches. They are not allowed to speak, but must be in submission, as the Law says. If they want to inquire about something, they should ask their own husbands at home; for it is disgraceful for a woman to speak in the church." - Romans 14:33-35... Paul was a Pharisee.. He's utterly legalistic. He was taught by Gamaliel since we was a kid.. That's all he knows. What do you expect? The guy is not perfect. You can't dismiss that he seriously loves God, but he also has his own personality and background, and that comes up a lot in his teachings. Oooh.. and what did Jesus call some of them again? Matt. 12:34 brood of vipers... sorry, hope yahoo does not ban me.

The Bible is to be read in context and changes in translations have to be accounted for... There are a lot of legalistic statements from different authors and so much confusion that Jesus had to narrow it down.

Now let's look at what the perfect guy has to say...
1) Love God above all things
2) Love your neighbor as yourself

But Lord, what about the homos!??!?! Then he looks at you in the eyes and says... "Love your neighbor"... Now you decide who your neighbor is, no need to recall the Good Samaritan story here...

He's pretty simplistic... Yet He encompasses everything... Brilliant guy.. Nobody had a deeper grasp of human nature... We don't want lists, we may forget one and ooops! it's road to damnation. It's all about your motives... what's in your heart? He's a Genius! One of the reasons why I love him so much, even if His church wants to stone me everyday.

You see brother, it's all about love... I love my girl, my family, my work, my neighbors (gays and straights alike) and my God... do you? (Can't be perfect though.. I find it hard to love pedophiles...)

Oh, and I doubt he sinned by saying "brood of vipers"...

Check out his life and what he has to say, it's got to be the best stuff in the Bible... And oh, I forgot.... he's God... no wonder....

There is a great deal of information in the Bible that I do not believe. The main reason I don't trust it is because it has been translated and mistranslated over and over again, we have lost all of the original copies of the Bible, and frankly I don't believe that God inspired the Bible. In my opinion, the Bible was written by man, period. I believe that God created me this way. He wouldn't want me to change who I am. Therefore, I do not believe homosexuality is a sin.

If you are a Christian, yes, it is a sin and you can't deny it. That's why I don't understand how you can follow the Bible and call yourself a Christian and be gay. And by saying "you", I'm not referring to the person that asked the question just anyone that's gay. I am not a Christian, I'm hetrosexual and totally 100% for gay rights. I just think it's so hypocritical to be gay and go to church. The Bible condones homosexuality and that is so wrong. I don't understand how people can believe so much in a book that is clearly mostly fictional! I think we all (gay or not) should believe in a higher power but not in Jesus, that's just dumb!

Try reading the WHOLE bible. You will find plenty of quotes condemning you too. Did you know that there are significantly more laws about what is and isn't acceptablefor staights than there are for gays. Oh and of course all the parts that say not to judge, and to love your neighbor. You know, the stuff you skipped over.

The bible also clearly says, in 1 Corinthians 14:34-35, that women should keep their yaps shut in church.

How's that one working out for ya?

Follow ALL of it, or none of it. THEN and ONLY THEN we'll talk about self-righteousness and sin -- when you are free of both..

Hypocrite!

Stop preaching under the guise of asking a "question".

Where in the bible does it say that Jesus tolerates bigots or even forgives them?

2007-01-20 11:39:06 · answer #8 · answered by castle h 6 · 3 2

No. Homosexuality is a sexual orientation.
Sin is a religious concept and only relevant to those that follow that religion as well as very specific interpretations of that religion. "Sin" has no legal standing.

Joseph C. post outdated and debunked information, much of which was purported to have been gathered by the proven bigot and homophobe Paul Cameron. He has been laughed out of every legitimate medical/legal meeting in which he presented "evidence".

Being gay is not a sin

Being hateful is

If I were you I'd spend a lot more time worrying about my own salvation and a lot less time sitting at your computer feeling righteous and offering up misinterpretations of His holy word to harass people.
