Thank goodness, most of America is against the death penalty. But we are indeed giving many more rights and also medical care to lifers than the average poor person, struggling in her/his freedom, can obtain.
What can we take away? I mean, aren't they glad this isn't Singapore where the criminals are given doctors during severe beatings, just so that they can be revived to take more lashes?

lifers without parole start prison with nothing. they are not allowed to have anything, just the issued prison clothing. As the time passes by, they may be eligible for more goods, such as commisary items, tv's, prison jobs, etc. these are all earned by good behavior, and no diciplinary write ups. If an inmate does something stupid, and gets wrote up for it, he may lose the levels he has attained, which could lessen his commisary, have his tv taken away, etc....
we are too kind to inmates, just think about the family he hurt. some prisons are like vacation spot.

I agree that it shouldn't be fun. I would rather receive the death penalty than life without parole. I was erroneously arrested 5 years ago due to a domestic dispute where the police believed him. I spent 3 weeks & never want to see the inside of a jail again. (He was later arrested & served 5 weeks although it should have been a lot more.)
